Information

In 1963 a small delicatessen and butcher shop opened in Brentwood Mall in northwest Calgary. The business changed hands a few times over the years and in 1982 our family purchased the business and so began Village Mall Deli (1982) Ltd. A faithful clientele developed who would shop for their weekly deli needs. In 1986, the deli was rebuilt in the newly renovated Brentwood Village and added a café called Kaffee Stube. In 1994 the business was passed to the next generation and that summer a gift shop was added to Village Mall Deli and the business grew and evolved into Edelweiss Village. Over the course of the years the gift shop expanded and a new home was built for the business at 1921 – 20th Avenue NW, Calgary, AB. The character and feeling of the building was based on memories of the owners from their visits overseas. Edelweiss Village caters to an upscale European clientele who expect high quality products. The café and delicatessen use only the finest ingredients to create the products that are offered. The gift boutique offers authentic giftware and household items from across Europe, providing friendly and professional customer service. Expect only the best quality merchandise, including Cuckoo Clocks direct from the Black Forest, handmade candles from Lithuania, linens from Sweden and many more treasures! High quality deli meats and imported cheeses are offered in the deli, accompanied by delicious german cooking and baking, featured in Kaffee Stube and Edelweiss Bakery. Edelweiss Village is a landmark in the Calgary northwest, where many visitors from across Canada choose to come when they visit our city. We look forward to seeing you soon!

I've always loved this place. Today, I took the kids for treats . We looked at all the neat things first, then settled on our own desserts. Everyone was friendly . There is so much to see. My advice is to go first on your own and take your time. Beautiful store. There are so many things to choose from . The kids thoroughly enjoyed their treats.

I love coming to this place, may favorite is sausages, bacon, and lots of desserts!

I always come here for good quality meat, my go to is brutwurst, local bacon, and Ukrainian sausages. I use Ukrainian sausages for hunters stew, I ask them to cut bacon really thick and I use it for pasta, so good! I also love their donuts with jam and another donuts with lots of cream in it. Love their shortbread cookies, I also really like orange muffin!

I used to be a big fan of their bread with chocolate in it, I no longer see the item, I believe they discontinued. My family love their pretzels and other buns!

They are always super busy, service is slow but it is purely because their hands are always full. Expect to line up and wait to get any items from the show cases/bakery. Restaurant? Expect to wait 5-10min to be seated, another 5-10 to find your server. It is very slow and I am not too sure why they do not allocate more people who works dedicated to the restaurant area but what I can tell is there are just not enough people, each single workers there are working hard. People are really nice and I always have nice interactions with them! Highly recommend!

A place with a variety of goods and things to see. It is not just a bakery, but their tea and bread are excellent, so I recommend trying them. And... always clowded.

Love this European shop, amazing selection of imported items and great quality.
I was not impressed with their cafe though, I ordered a chicken sandwich to go, nobody asked I needed grilling, tomatoes and lettuce were lumped into it and when I went out and was going to eat it, I realized there were no napkins.
Ladies at the front counter were lovely, cafe folks could do with a proper lesson though!

Very nice Dutch/German import shop. The cafe serves good coffee and cakes - also very friendly service. The shop is fun to explore. They have a wide variety of import food items. They are somewhat pricey …. But nowadays everything seems pricey.
